20mth old poo leaks at night

20mth old DS leaks poo nearly every night. He poos so much at night that the nappy is completely covered front to back. Have tried different nappy brands and eventually settled on Pampers size 6 for night time which are too big for him but the extra surface area has helped reduce the leaks a bit. He's not always disturbed by it but the constant scrubbing and washing of his pjs and sleeping bag is wearing! Also if he's a bit unsettled at night I think it's the poo - changed him at about 4am tonight because he was unsettled since 2.30 and he's now sleeping, but I'm not and haven't been since 2.30! Does anyone have any ideas? I've been looking if there are reusable nappy shorts he could wear over his nappy but haven't found anything really. He eats really well and often poos once or twice during the day as well but he saves his whoppers for overnight!! Thank you Hmm

I have "diaper shorts" they're kinda crap and I don't think would help keep poo in because the waist band is thin-ish shirred cotton. You need an actual cloth nappy wrap/cover, the proper, strong, elastic keeps poo in.

Also maybe try putting him on the toilet before bed and encouraging him to try to avoid the night poos, DD was toilet trained younger by me catching her peeing and pooing by timing and the face and then praising so she got the idea and I could then get her to try on the toilet when I needed her too before going out or something. No "signs of readiness" we started because she was flooding her nappies every morning and having to wash extra stuff when nappies leaked got on my nerves, it was a slow road to fully trained but it solved the problem

A motherease airflow wrap over a disposable will help to contain it, but probably won't stop it disturbing your ds. Agree with PP can you have a go at trying to get him to go before bed, even if he's still in nappies during the day?
