Do babies/toddlers suffer from insomnia?

Just wondering...

I've suffered from insomnia on and off for years, usually anxiety-related. I usually go off to sleep ok but then find myself wideawake at 2 or 3am for at least 2 hrs. I have range of techniques to deal with it, but usually get up and go downstairs and read, sometimes do housework(!) until I feel sleepy again.

My DS is 16 months and has never been a great sleeper and often ends up in our bed. I was watching him through half-closed eyes last night and it seemed that he was just struggling to drop off (not screaming, but would have been if on his own).

Anybody have any thoughts?
