Teething or sleep regression or both ?!

DD is just over 8 MO - was 2 weeks overdue so closer fo 8.5 corrected it that makes any difference?

For the past week or so her night tjme sleep has been awful. For the first 3-4 hours she sleeps fine and then after that she has been waking up every hour - 2 hours & it's been so difficult to settle her and she's in a sort of half awake half asleep state.

She has recently cut 2 new teeth, one after the other and the second one is still short (only way I can think to describe it lol) so I imagine it hasn't finished growing through yet. I am wondering whether this can be the cause of the disturbed sleep or if it is the dreaded 8 month sleep regression.

The reason I ask is because I worry about whether the teething is causing discomfort and whether I should be giving her calpol to relieve this - or if it's just developmental related obviously shouldn't be medicated.

I am concerned that if I offer calpol I will be medicating for no reason - advice please :(

It's usual that the first four teeth (two top, two bottom) come in very quick succession. So if the first two gave just cut, you should be expecting the second two and it could well be that.
