2-3-4 naps

Hello everyone.

So I switched my LO of 6 months to 234 and gone with a more 2.5/3 -
3/3.5 - 3/3.5.

I have switched to this as she was literally fighting her last nap. Layed in pushchair for an hour and still didn't nap and went on for 4 days 🤦🏼‍♀️then was awake like 5 hours before bed. Nightmare!! I tried every trick and some new ones to get her to sleep it was met with nope mummy I'm not going to sleep!!

So just wanted to check this sounds ok?

530am/6am wake - 830am/9am sleep - 10am/10.30am wake ( I may have to hold her chest in the transition of cycles - depends on the day)

1pm/130pm sleep - 3pm/330pm wake (again I do have to encourage further sleeping - only holding chest and doesn't usually wake up) I managed 2 hours earlier but for last half hour I had to hold her chest.

Ends with about 3 to 3.5 hours sleep

Then bed about 6pm/630pm until she can handle the 4 hours awake.

Is this sounding OK?

I would maybe play with the first wake window a bit. My guess is that she might struggle to make it to 2.5/3. Just a guess

Thank you. She does struggle with it, she does wake up early and the tip I was given was keep her going until the time you want her to nap 🤦🏼‍♀️ and actually it has worked, she has been going back to sleep at 5am/530am and getting up closer to 7am, which then in turn helps the rest of the day. This morning 645am and went back down at 845am. Whoop 2 hours exact!!

I can't understand the whole 2 hours after waking first time though? As she's just had like 11 hours sleep. Though the next awake time is 3 hours? Then after that 4 hours 😳😳 boggles the mind how they can cope with a longer wake time after the morning nap??

Are you alright with the 5.30am/6am morning wake up? Because an issue you may face is earlier bedtime makes morning wake up even earlier, or cements in an existing early wake up that you'd like to move later.

I'd suggest in this transition period that you be flexible about 2 naps or 3 naps. It might be that in a week baby has 2-nap days mostly, but has 1 or 2 (or 2 or 3) days with 3 naps, as a "catch up". This helps ensure that bedtime doesn't get earlier and earlier. For example if you have a day with a pre-6am wake up, I'd make that a 3 nap day, with the "forced" third nap (ie car drive or pushchair walk) and then a much later bedtime.

Thanks fatedestiny 😊🤗 I would rather wake up about 630am to 7 to be honest.

OK yep I will be flexible, so far she's not been too bad. A little overtired at times 🤦🏼‍♀️ so needs a bit of tinkering.

Always such good advice fate!
