Naps suddenly painful

Morning. So I put my LO in her pram for nap. Havent changed how I do it, I don't think. She's started getting agitated and shouting and resistant to them. Normally I only have to pop dummy in once and she will drop off.

She goes down 10/15mins before proper awake time of 2 hours. Fed. Winded. Not overtiredness - no rubbing eyes. Normally she drops off no issues.

What's changed??? She's 6 months on 1st September

Oh and she's gone back to the one sleep cycle at a time in the day 🤦🏼‍♀️😭

Maybe not ready for it? I would try pushing it back by 15 minutes and see what happens

FATEdestiny · 19/08/2021 11:00

If naps are only 30-45 minutes then she needs shorter wake windows, otherwise she'll get over tired.

Wake so did want a to be around double nap length.

How are her nappies? Any constipation?

CourtneyCox2021 · 19/08/2021 11:23

When she has a 45 min nap. She goes down 10 mins before 1.5hours.this morning. Nap finished at 9am. Then went in her pram at 1020am.didnt settle till 1040am. I used to put her down literally at the 1.5hour or 2 hour mark, and found she was rubbing her eyes a bit but still went off well, but as she started with 45mins naps thought I do it be earlier incase that was the issue 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Shes only ever gone once a day or once every other day. She had a big poo yesterday, bit more firmer but she has some purees and told by hv this is normal. Drinking normal.

Tried some ashtons and something teething gel as slight red cheeks and chewing on everything 🤷🏼‍♀️ but that could be just testing everything as babies do 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nap transition? Mine went from 3 to 2 naps around that age

CourtneyCox2021 · 19/08/2021 12:03

But then she wouldn't get enough sleep in day? She now only has 45 mins four to five times a day. So not doing longer ones now. She used to do 1.5 in morning and 1.5 to 2 hours at lunch and then 30 mins to 45 mins at 430pm ish x x

They’re all different of course. But by this age mine seem to want the same number of naps at roughly the same times of day, so even if a nap turns out short I do the next nap at roughly the same time (unless baby is obviously asking for a nap earlier). Then what varies most day to day is bedtime coming earlier if naps were short.

MotherOfDragon20 · 19/08/2021 14:22

45 minutes 4/5 times a day is quite a lot at 6 months I would have thought, personally I would stop worrying too much about wake windows and just look at your baby, if she used to go down fine and is now fighting it, not showing any sleepy cues and only sleeping for a short time the obvious conclusion (in my unprofessional opinion) would be that she’s not ready for a nap and might now need longer between naps as she gets older.

CourtneyCox2021 · 19/08/2021 15:51

Thank you. I get what your saying. Recently we went out and her awake window was all over the place then I had the early wake ups of 4am.... So I know she needs the sleep. Will have a look and reevaluate

OK so update, she had a 45 min nap ending 215pm. Popped her in at 1545pm and she was rubbing her eyes when put down but gone off a dream and her usual of taking a couple mins and popping dummy in once. I know means overtiredness but did try 10 mins before and she kicked off massively 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️
