Toddler nightmares

For the last 3 nights my 3yo has been waking 3-4 times a night complaining of nightmares. She's always been a champion sleeper but there's lots of new things happening for her at the moment, including a new baby brother and starting pre-school.

Tonight at bedtime she was crying that she didn't want to go to sleep because of the nightmares. It broke my heart. I'd happily sit with her until she falls asleep but 8 week old DS won't allow it! Also I don't want to start any bad sleep habits because she's always been so good, so if anyone can give me advice on how to help her I'd really appreciate it.

She might feel more secure if you stayed upstairs as she fell asleep, and left her door open.

That's a compromise because you've not left her alone and are there for reassurance, but without actually being in the room with her.
