Toddler in new bed

We put our two-year-old "big girl bed "for the first time last night and it was absolutely horrendous. She wouldn't go to bed for an hour and a half usual straight away I was awake for three hours in the night. Any tips?

Sometimes they can feel a bit 'exposed' without the containment of a cot.
Can you put the old cot next to the bed to kind of cocoon them in a bit

You can get a travel side for the bed which might help.

Let her play in it during the day. Roll up a towel and put under the sheet on outside edge to make a hump to stop her rolling out. Put a pillow on the floor by the bed in case she falls out. Consider putting a chest of drawers etc against the side of the bed so it's half enclosed.

Take her shopping and let her pick her own bedding. My DD was quite good in the toddler bed anyway but I bought her some new bedding at the weekend which she loves and she's excited to go to bed on an evening now.

We were going too but because the bed is really low we didn't think we needed them for safety, but definitely might be a good idea for comfort for her x

We did all that, got her to pick the bedding and a bed special toy

This type of thing is great- my son had this. Keeps them cosy and prevent rolling out of bed

I would buy a second cot for baby and keep toddler in a cot until at least 3rd birthday
