Rolling in sleep

DD will turn 5 months old on the 18th, and did her first back to belly roll this morning.

Well now she just refuses to stay on her back, her naps today she's rolled onto her belly and she's asleep now but on her front, I flip her on her back she goes right back on her front.

I'm terrified now of going to sleep incase her face gets buried in the mattress!

I have got a 4 year old DD too but I never remember worrying about this with her, but then she didn't roll till nearly 7 months so she was bigger.

The first few times they roll onto their tummy, you might like to gently turn them back, but do not feel you have to get up all night to check. Give them some time to play on their tummy while they are awake to help their development, but make sure you supervise them while they are on their front.

Thank you - she did roll front to back at about 3 and a half month for about a week then just stopped, like she thought right I can do that now need to learn the next new thing.

I have been turning her back but she just flips straight back over, I've been watching her and she does turn her head side to side.

I'm pretty sure that I've read that when they're strong enough to roll onto their back by themselves and can move their head around then it's fine. Just put her on her back when you put her down and she can roll herself onto her front

She'll be fine! The risk when tummy-sleeping is that they face-plant and don't have the strength to roll back or turn their head. She's fine, leave her be.

If she is strong enough to roll, she is strong enough to move her head out of the mattress.
Put her down to sleep on her back, and if she flips over, let her be.

Thank you everyone, she's spent most of today on her front (not my doing she just now point blank refuses to stay on her back) but she's rolled back into her back when she's had enough so think I'll sleep a lot better tonight
