My DD has been unwell with teething, cough and snotty nose. 2 nights ago she had a terrible cough which lasted over an hour, this happened on 2 nights running. Last night the cough didn't last that long. Tonight I have given her 5ml of medised. On the previous nights i only gave her 1ml, 3 ml,tonight I gave her 5ml. The stated dose on the bottle for her age.
It says on the bottle should not be taken more than 3 days consult you doctor. I'm worrid as this is her 4th night I have had to give her it as she is terribly bunged up and she may waken coughing like the previous nights.
I dont give her it to her on the day just before she goes to bed.
I'm worrid. Has anyone else given the baby medised more than 3 nights running?

Some people give it every night as a matter of course (not that I'm suggesting that!) How old is she?

You're not supposed to give any medicine without consulting a dr for more than three days running including Calpol. Most people do though.

I have given my ds medised for about 4 nights in a row before! But with the 3rd & 4th night, I didn't give it to him automatically but settled him down to sleep and then if he did wake up would give him a dose then.

Have you tried the Karvol plug-ins or capsules? They really help through the night.

If you get the capsules just put them on a piece of cloth or something and leave it near her cot but out of reach.

Hope she gets better soon!

She's 8 months old. I did go to the docs when i didn't get any sleep the first night and he said it is o.k but he didn't say about how many nights.
Babies make you worry lots. I
I'll try the Karvol capsules tomorrow and no medised. Thanks for your help.

You could try a humidifier or putting a wet towel on her radiator to make the air moist and easier to breathe. Good luck and get well soon, wee one!

My dd is just getting over a cold (9 mo) and I gave her medised every night for 5 nights as I felt she was needing it. I also put a humidifier in her room and had it on for a few hours before she went to bed. I took her into the shower room with me when I was having a shower just to let the steam help her. She is now mucher better. If you are still worried see your GP. Hope she gets better soon - there is nothing worse when they are ill.
