Is it time for 2naps?

My LO is 7 1/2 months old and has always been a good sleeper.

However we started transitioning him to his cot in his room for daytime naps at 6 months and it's never gone well! He's still in our room at the moment in a cot and sleeps 8-7 overnight so no issues there.

It's the daytime naps that are the challenge! If I put him in the cot for a nap he just rolls around and fidgets for up to an hour without falling asleep! I then usually have to move him to the pram and rock him to sleep as he gets so overtired. He also only naps for 30 mins at a time.

Is it time to drop a nap? And which one?

His naps are usually (meant to be) 9.30, 1 and 4 but with it taking so long to get him down it doesn't seem to be working! Any advice welcome please!

I make his room dark and put white noise on and just sit and wait...

Is he sleeping 6-7 hours total at night, or is that just the longest stretch? If that’s the total I wouldn’t drop a nap as I think you’ll struggle to meet his overall sleep needs (roughly 14 hours per day at his age).

He sleeps from 8pm - 7am every night without waking (sometimes til 6am) @OaxacaChihuahua

I would be more inclined to give extra help to sleep for naps, rather than dropping any.

See what happens if you do all the naps in a (moving) pram for a couple of days.
