Pillow & duvet help

My LO is now 2 and a half nearly - he will not keep either a pillow or duvet in his bed at night. We make his bed, he chose his covers so it's something he likes but when we put him to bed by the time we leave him, the pillow and duvet are on the floor.

But if he comes and lays in our bed he will pull the duvet over him and lay on the pillow 🤷🏻‍♀️

Any tips on how I can encourage him to leave them in there?

I think that's too early to be in a bed, rather than a cot. I'd keep toddler in a sleeping bag (18-36m or 3y-6y) in the cot.

@FATEdestiny he is in a cot. We have the sleeping bags but he can get himself out of them so that's why we tried the duvet and pillow

Have you tried putting the sleeping bag on backwards? So the zip is up the middle of his back.

SheWoreYellow · 09/08/2021 11:55

Our middle one was like that. We got fleecy sleepsuits and left him to it.

@FATEdestiny yeah, he will then just cry and scream cause he wants it off 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm running out of ideas

Turn the duvet round 90 degrees, so the long side rubs across the width of the cot, the you have lots of width of duvet to tuck him in.

I doubt he will keep the booties on 🤦🏻‍♀️ he won't keep anything on his feet when he's sleeping

Is he getting cold? My toddler won’t tolerate sleeping bags either. Sometimes he will use a blanket for a bit but it always ends up on the floor. We just put him in pyjamas warm enough to not need a duvet or blanket and in winter we either add socks or use pyjamas with feet.

Lately he keeps waking up during the night when usually he sleeps through which is making me think he's either cold or he's just waking up. His room is always a safe temperature aswell. But we put him in fleeces pjs in the winter but he will not keep anything on his feet, even socks 🤦🏻‍♀️

He won't even keep a blanket on, the minute we tuck him in, and walk away it's on the floor. We thought he'd love the duvet cause he loves our one.

This is what I did too 👍
