Seven and a half month sleep worse than newborn

Is this leap 5?

He’s up every hour and a half and takes so long to get back in his cot that I’m wide awake. It’s 3 am and I managed just over an hour between 12-1.

It sounds like your baby needs to start to learn how to go from awake to asleep in the cot, rather than the fight to put him down.

I have a 7 1/2 month old that's completely changed sleep habits too.
Over the last two weeks he's become a really light sleeper and waking every 45 mins when I put him down about 8 until midnight then again at 5 then wants to go back to sleep until 9am.
It's a completely different pattern to two weeks ago. He's learnt how to get on his knees and he cut a tooth round about when it started so wondering if it's that.
I have two older children but age gap and no idea where or how to start with sleep training

Cocomade · 02/08/2021 20:19

Is he learning a new skill?
Around 8 months can be hell for sleep tbh.
Can he self settle? Does he have a dummy?

Givemebackmylilo · 02/08/2021 20:23

YESYESYES

The 8 month sleep regression in our house was the WORST. Horrible. I cried nearly every day.

It'll pass.

You're not alone

I've been trying to get my 7.5 month old to sleep on her cot since 7pm and still not managed it if that makes you feel any better.

If I try any sleep training she cries until she's sick and wakes up my toddler ☹️

So.Tired.

redpontipine · 02/08/2021 21:46

@ilovepinkjelly that's reassuring we're all in the same boat
I've been trying since 7.30 as he refused to nap today
He has had 35 mins in the pram at 10 am.
Put him down 7.30 he has woke crying at 8 - 8.45 and 9.30
Last night he finally stopped about 11 and woke at 2 am and was up til 3.30 dreading another night like that.

I keep picking him up and cuddling him on the chair until he settles then pat him in the cot. I know I shouldn't be but he is hysterical other wise

How are you all trying to re settle?

Cocomade · 02/08/2021 21:49

I also used to pick mine up!
Once he dropped off I waited 20 mins and then put him down.
I was like a zombie but I just looked on my phone and put him down so bloody slowly then creeped out the room!
They go in a deep sleep after 20 mins so less likely to wake up. Just make sure you put down slowly so they don't get a fright and wake back up 🙈

ilovepinkjelly · 03/08/2021 04:43

I pick her up too! I know I shouldn't but she is hysterical if I don't and then she wakes up her brother...

Finally settled her around 11 last night and she slept until 4.15 which wouldn't be so bad if my toddler hadn't been up at 3 wanting me to get in bed with him 😬 I'm trying to resist the temptation to let her just get in with me now as I know we'd be guaranteed a few more hours that way,

I just keep saying 'it will get better' on repeat...

ForkedIt · 03/08/2021 05:21

8 months was horrendous for us. Worst sleep regression we experienced (and I’m pretty sure we experienced them all!)

Guineapigbridge · 03/08/2021 05:31

Tell us about their daytime food and nap routine?

xmasbaby20 · 03/08/2021 08:54

I think we are going through this too 🙈 how long does it usually last?

redpontipine · 04/08/2021 09:23

Glad to know I'm not alone.
Do your babies sleep in the day? Mine won't nap anymore unless held
