8 month sleep regression

My 7.5 month old has been walking multiple times a night, sitting up and crying because he doesn't want to be awake, and sleep crawling around the bed. Each time we have to feed /soothe to sleep. He also is fighting his night sleep as well which he never used to, taking around 40 mins a night to settle. Does this sound like the 8 month regression?

I would say he is telling you that he would sleep better if he learnt to go to sleep in his cot, without a feed.

Thank you for your reply, but our son loves it in our super king bed where he has space to spread out. Was just wondering whether it was regression, the 6 teeth he's growing at once or his cold that was causing the temporary disturbance.

This happened to us at about 8.5 months - she was a good day napper and it became obvious she wasn’t tired enough to go to bed so we stretched out wake windows, she will likely drop her morning nap relatively young i think.

This also limited the mid night wakes but we still have some sleep sitting up!

I had been wondering if he was trying to drop a nap. So many variables with babies, you never know which ones are the cause/effect!

Around 8 months is hard!
Has he just learnt to crawl? When they learn a development this can affect sleep.
What the naps like?

How much sleep is he getting in the daytime?

RedFox229 · 29/07/2021 19:29

He's been crawling for around a month and a half, but is trying to be more daring with his standing now, playing around with 1 hand holds on objects. He did manage to get up a few steps today which was a first!

Nap wise he normally has 2x 30-40 min naps and 1x 1.5 hr nap late afternoon.

I had a similar issue with my son at around 8 months, he was also co-sleeping in bed with me and became really unsettled, he’d never been a great sleeper but would stir and settle with a quick boob but at this age he was awake a lot in the night, sleep crawling and very unsettled from the early hours. I got some amazing advice from ladies on here and I did make the transition to his cot and cutting down night feeds (but I was at breaking point). The difference was incredible within a week. It could be all sorts of factors and hopefully it will settle for you soon, but my son just seemed to reach a point where being in bed with me disrupted his sleep rather than helped. He’s 10.5 months now and doesn’t even like me rubbing his back to go to sleep now, just plop him in the cot and leave him, which I didn’t think would happen until he was about 10!!
