8mth old naps - what's your experience?

Hi, in need of some help and keen to know other people's experiences at 8mths.
My 8mth old will only nap for 30mins and it's driving me a bit crazy. He wakes promptly at 30mins and in standing in his cot within a couple of mins. He's always been a poor napper but I hoped with him now being very active crawling & pulling to stand up naps would start to lengthen but no such luck. He wakes up cranky & crying, I try to resettle by rocking back to sleep but he usually wakes up when I put him back down in the cot. I still have to rock him to sleep for naps as he won't fall asleep on his own and when we try to settle in cot he cries and rolls then stands up.
He's EBF and doing well with eating solids 2-3 times a day. Goes to bed at 7.30/8 wakes twice to feed then wakes around 6 first nap at 8.45ish.
Would love to know what your experiences are/have been and if you have any advice as he's obviously in need of more sleep during the day and I'm struggling with a bad back and worrying how I'm going to keep this routine up in future months.

You might get better quality sleep rocking him back and forth in the pram/pushchair, then leaving him in there to sleep. That removes the issue of putting him down when already asleep - a poor habit for sleep hygiene. It also means you can rock the pram again to resettle when first stirring awake.

@FATEdestiny thank you for your advice, we have tried this over several days but not had any success, he won't sleep in the pushchair in general and is going through a phase of fighting being put in it which makes things harder.
We now have no naps that last longer than 30mins no matter what time of day we put him down. I don't understand why when he sleeps 4-6 hour stretches at night no problem.
About a month ago he had the occasional day when he slept an hour or more but for the last few weeks it's been 30 mins then immediately awake and standing and attempts to rock him and put back down all fail. I know he needs more rest but just don't know what else to do.

It sounds like you need to sleep train to teach baby to go from awake to asleep all in the cot, rather than rocking to sleep.
