4 week old DS is currently in a pattern of waking at 12.30, 3.30am, 5.30am. He stirs about half an hour to an hour before these wake ups murmering, shuffling, and going back to sleep but seems restless. At the moment, I'm leaving him to see what happens and it leads to a little cry which is when I get him up and feed.. but this is driving me a bit mad as I'm awake throughout wondering what he's doing. Would you get him up straight away when the murmering starts?

I've got mixed thoughts as I think it's good he'll settle himself a little bit.. but also is he really settling.

Your thoughts or experiences would be so helpful 😊

I'd try ways to keep baby sleeping more deeply. Namely a swaddle tends to promote more restful sleep and a dummy to suck might help.

I'd be inclined to try to resettle (in the cot) with hand on chest and dummy, rather than going straight to feeding or ignoring. If not resettled after 10 mins or so of trying to resettle, then I'd feed.

Thankyou.. I don't know why but I'd not thought to try to resettle first!
