Swaddling

We've been using the happy baby sleepea swaddle and my son (10 weeks) was finally sleeping in his next to me. Our bedroom is 22 degrees so we were putting him in the swaddle naked. He always comes out of it warm sometimes hot around the swaddle band and sweaty under the arms. His forehead and back are not hot. So we've stopped as I read babies sweating is a sids risk. Sleep is once again terrible. But I'm wondering if all swaddled babies are hot under their arms when swaddled?

You can get a forehead themometer if youre very worried. Then you can check his tempreture.

How about taking steps to cool the room temperature rather than stopping the swaddle?

A fan (not pointing directly at cot) will help circulate air. Windows open. Curtains closed throughout the day, with blackout blinds. A bowl/bucket of iced water in front of the fan will cool circulating air. Have other windows open in the house so that air circulates throughout the house. You can even buy small air conditioning units.

22c shouldn't be too hot for a thin swaddle.
My baby is 2.5 weeks old and was in vest, sleepsuit and thin cotton swaddle last night. She felt just right to me
