11mo wakes every night after about 40 mins

Hi all, my 11mo dd has woken most of her life pretty much every night around 40 minutes after bedtime (one sleep cycle). She wakes crying and very upset but as soon as I give her a cuddle she will go straight back to sleep. Does anyone know why this would be? I have tried leaving her in case she goes back to sleep but she doesn't and it doesn't sit well with me to leave her crying and upset. I would like to nip it in the bud though if possible. Plus my hubby and I are hoping for our first date night post baby soon but I don't want to go if she is going to wake up upset and wanting us. Thanks.

My daughter did this - when she was a lot younger though. I worked out that she was overtired.

What's your nap routine?

Thanks @ohthejoysoftoddler. She tends to have about half an hour around 9:30/10am and then another 1.5/2 hours around 1:30 or 2pm. I thought it could be over tiredness but then thought she probably has enough sleep. She does wake once or twice in the night though (and often ends up in with us) so perhaps she is still overtired, i'm not sure.

Maybe undertired...aren't babies ridiculous.
You could try no napping after 3pm.

The 2,3,4 is pretty popular for babies on two naps:

7am wake
9am - 10am nap
1-3 nap
7 bed
