3 yo sleep regression?

My 3 yo DS has always been a good sleeper but for the last couple of months has become a nightmare. He wakes up in the middle of the night (anything from 3 am) and keeps coming into our room every half an hour. I help him go to toilet the very first time he gets up and walk him back to bed. Then every time he gets up after that I walk him back to bed. This continues until about 5-5.30 when he dozes off till half 7. He doesn't nap, has a good bedtime routine and we try to get him as much exercise as we can. Im utterly exhausted and start to resent him. His behaviour during the day is terrible and he's all the time tired. Please tell me this is a phase and will end shortly.

Allowing him to nap during the daytime at times when he's had a bad night may well help. Overtiredness causes restless sleep so it's easy to get into a vicious cycle of being tired, not sleeping well, so being even more tired, so sleeping even more badly and so on.

You are doing the right thing keep returning to bed.

Are you sure he's ready to be dry at night? With waking for wees so much in the night, I would be inclined to keep him in pullups at night.
