8 month old baby waking up thrashing and panicking

My little girl has been waking a lot at night, suddenly gasping and arching her back, sitting up, or crawling around suddenly, I know it could be a sleep regression but I'm worried that it's something else? Has anyone experienced similar?

Assuming you have no other symptoms, in the daytime for example, I would assume just normal sleep issues.

Back arching and thrashing are common when baby is exhausted, wants to be asleep but can't.

Crawling, sitting up and pulling to standing are all the stuff of sleep issues in the 8-10 month stage. These are behaviour issues rather than sleep issues. It's when, for possibly the first time, baby needs to understand that while she can (as in, is physically able to) sit/stand/crawl around, that the cot at sleep time is not the time or place to do this. You have to teach the concept of "No, don't do that".
