Help! My DD is 25months old and usually a great sleeper. We did self sooth training with her from 6/7 months and since then she’s been great. She naps for 1.5-2hours a day and sleeps through the night for us.
On Monday we travelled up to my in laws who we haven’t been up to see for 8 months due to covid. Since being here she has developed a bit of a cold. The last two nights have been hell, she is absolutely fine throughout the whole of her bedtime routine but as soon as we go to put her in her travel cot she starts crying and screaming.
The first night she was ok being put down but then woke up at 12:30am and refused to go back in the cot; ending up with me sleeping next to her in the spare bed (I didn’t sleep but she finally did at 2:30am until 7).
Yesterday she napped in the car as we were out; but yesterday night wouldn’t let us put her down at all. We tried letting her cry it out but it went on for such a long time I got so distressed too. In the end I managed to get her to sleep at 10pm by cuddling her and carefully putting her down. She did sleep through finally.
Today we tried putting her down for her nap at the usual time, she screamed for half an hour until I couldn’t cope anymore. She ended up being cuddled to sleep on my DH, however he couldn’t put her down without her waking and crying so just let her sleep on him.
She’s being so grumpy and such hard work during the days now which is really testing me; my husband and the in laws!
I’m 21 weeks pregnant and we are both absolutely knackered and I’m very emotional.
It could be that she’s in a strange place, it could be her cold (although during the day she is fine), it could be a sleep regression? I have no idea! We’ve put a night light in the room she is in just in case she was scared. I’m pretty sure she isn’t teething. We have another 6 nights here! Please any suggestions on what to do?!
