15 month old - time to drop a nap?

LO is 15 months old and for the past couple of weeks has consistently woken up in the middle of the night (1-2am) then been wide awake for about 2 hours before falling back asleep until the morning. We've tried all sorts to get him to sleep in this time but he is so wide awake nothing works. He still has two 1.5 hour naps during the daytime and I am beginning to wonder if it is time to move towards one in order to help him sleep through the night. Any advice on how to do this? Should I try to drop the afternoon one first or shorten both of them at the same time? All thoughts greatly appreciated!

Could you make the morning nap earlier therefore bringing the afternoon nap earlier too? Or maybe cutting it short?
DD was horrific for waking up in the night until she was 3.5... then realised if I gave her toast before bed she would stay asleep the whole night.
DD has a cough and a cold which is the reason we are up tonight!
Good luck

I think cutting it short may be the way forward as his morning nap is already quite early (wakes at 6 then naps around 8.30). Definitely willing to give toast a go as well! Grin

The way yo do this would be to keep toddler very busy in the morning and push through until about 11am. Have a very early lunch (or substantial snack and milk) and put down for a nap 11.30am ish

I would go for one nap at lunchtime. will be painful for the first few days to push through until then but should i prove sleep at night. As pp said, start with it early and then gradually move back until 12.30 or so.

I’ve been shortening the first nap for a couple of months now because I was struggling to get him down in the afternoon. My LO is 14 months and sleeps 10:00 - 10:30 then 14:00 - 15:15ish. Bed at 19:00. He manages fine at nursery with one nap a day, usually 13:00 - 14:30 but when we’ve tried one nap at home, he needs a sleep about 11:00 /11:30 but doesn’t nap for long enough to last until bedtime, even if we bring it forward.
