Nap help

My 7 month old always wakes 30 minutes into his day naps. Almost on the dot he will wake after 30 mins and not go back to sleep. (unless we are going for a drive in the car, then he may wake and go back to sleep for a longer nap)

It’s starting to impact his night time sleep a lot, does anyone else have this problem and have any tips on how they got their baby to nap longer?

Thanks for your help

How many naps is he having a day? When my DD was 7 months I dropped her 3rd nap which resulted in her sleeping longer for the other 2 naps.

How does he go to sleep - is he fed/rocked to sleep or does he self-settle?

You could do with trying to resettle her before she properly wales up. So pay very close attention to her and as soon as you notice the slightest movement from her (face scrunch, arms or legs moving, hands fisting), reinsert dummy and try to resettle.

Use the same resettle method you use yo get her to sleep initially. If this is feeding/cuddling to sleep and then putting down, you may struggle.

Usually 3 naps a day at the moment. Rocked if at home, but wakes up if placed in bed after so ends up being held

He used to self settle well at night, but we started trying it for daytime naps and he just wouldn’t go down. This has now started to creep into his evening naps where he won’t settle even with controlled crying

How about maps in something that moves? Either a bouncy chair which you bounce with your foot, or pushchair (indoors) whereby you push back and forth on the spot.
