DS2 is 4 months old and formula fed. Has been a reasonable sleeper but has started waking at 1am and 4am ( actually it has started since the clocks went back). if I put his dummy back in he goes back to sleep (at 1am until 4am and at 4am until 5.30am when I do first morning feed). I am certain he is waking looking for dummy. Anyone any experience of this and how to wean him off it ? I use the dummy to get him to sleep at 7pm.

A lot of chldren give them up spontaneously - my ds1 did at 6 months, then found his thumb, my ds2 at 8 months and my dd at 2 months. I would think it is very early to worry about it. You could go cold turkey if you want to and teach him to self settle, or go with the flow for a while. don't worry that becuae he likes it now you will automatically have a toddler who wants one 24/7
