We can normally get our nearly 7 week old to go down ok in his cot after his last night feed but it doesn’t matter what time he wakes for the middle of the night feed - if it’s 2/3/4am - or how sleepy and peaceful he is during that actual feed, once he’s winded and put back in his cot he is absolutely wide awake and full of beans, unlike his broken mother, and won’t really sleep properly until after his first morning feed at around 6 or 7. Is that just his sleep cycle (please say no!) or is there anything we can do to help him get back to sleep then?
I don’t know if it’s relevant but he is bottle fed and because he has a cleft palate it takes him a very very long time to feed - minimum of 40 minutes, can easily be double that - so I’m absolutely exhausted by the middle of night feed, and when he then won’t sleep after it.... Argh! He sleeps during the day if he’s in the sling or on me etc but I’m presuming as he is still so teeny that those day time sleeps wouldn’t necessarily impact on his night sleep, as he needs it all at this stage?
