Beware! Collapsing cot purchased from Kiddicare!

Not strictly about sleep I suppose, but I wanted to warn MNs about a 'Chester' cot purchased from Kiddicare.com in September. I heard a resounding 'crash' over the baby monitor at 4am one morning last week, and running into my baby's room found that all of the bars on one side of the cot had fallen out, leaving a gaping hole and wooden poles sticking out in all directions. My 7 month old son was on the verge of falling through the gap.
When I contacted Kiddicare they told me another customer had had a similar experience!! They thought it was a faulty batch where the bars had not been glued in!!!I find this rather horrifying. I asked them to withdraw it from sale immediately, which they seem to have done, but they have been ignoring my subsequent emails for the past week (only affordable way of contacting them as they only have a premium rate phone number at £1.50 a minute!!!) so I don't know whether they have done a product recall. The thought of what could have happened to my baby and what could happen to someone else's has me in a cold sweat so I'm posting this just in case. I can verify everything with emails and photographs.
Thanks.

sorry to hear what happened.
i know this is off the subject but to get around premium rate numbers try website saynoto0870.com
But i think having emails and pictures (records of your complaint) would be better back up for your situation with this cot.
good luck with it.
