DD hardly sleeping at nursery

My 18mo DD gets around 20-30 mins sleep at nursery a day (vs 1.5-2hours when she's at home).

She goes 3 days a week, and it means she is a total mess in the eve, I often have to put her down at 6pm and even then that hour between collecting her and her going to sleep is nightmarish! She's an emotional wreck, tantrums, crying etc because she's so overtired.

They sleep on mats and I think she's a light sleeper so gets disturbed by the other children. They did used to have her in the cotroom and she'd sometimes do about 45mins, but as she's moving up into the non baby room soon, they want her used to sleeping on a mat. I just don't think she's ever going to be able to get decent sleep there.

Has anyone has this experience? Any tips at all? Thank you!

Yes! I used to really hate this. I found after a month or so, my ds just got used to a reduced nap so we could have a nice time after nursery.

Yeah I had the same! My DD just got used to it. What I found to help was having a really chilled time when she got home. She has really busy days at nursery so I stick the TV on or read her book, whatever she chooses she'd like to do to wind down before bed time. Her naps have gotten better as she's adjusted to nursery but she still doesn't do big stretches like she would at home. I wouldn't worry too much though, she'll adapt!

My 10 month old started nursery a few weeks ago and we are struggling with her naps there too! She did 25 minutes today not sure how she coped with it but she seemed to today. She was starting to do 45 mins and even did an hour last week but it's so hit and miss! I'm hoping she will get used to it, it's just such a different environment it's hard isn't it! We've had days through where she has fully had meltdowns from being so tired and it's not fun especially after work. Let's hope it gets better and easier for us!

Thank you for your responses! I know there's not much we can do. I do like the idea of just chilling when we get home. Usually she has a bath before bed but I think I'll skip that when she's so tired.

She been going since early September so I really hoping it would be better by now. Apparently she sleeps as soon as she's put down, but wakes up after 20 mins and just wont go back to sleep.
