Getting a baby to nap not on you

Is there a way I can encourage my 3 month old to nap in a crib or basket not me? (I know about the fourth trimester by the way.)

I started trying when my DD was about 4 months old. I started with 1 nap in the cot a day then built it up. Had to rock her to sleep at first but after a while I started doing pick up put down until she learned to self settle.

Watching with interest, DD sleeps well at night but is the world's worst napper!
