Phlegm/mucus 8weeks old

Hello!

Pretty desperate for some tips and tricks please !
My 8 week old has phlegm/mucus at night for the past month. This has been seen by the midwife, HV and GP who all state it's normal - which is grand, but what can I do to help him? It unsettles him and wakes him up (and me) and disrupts our nights.

He will have a bottle at around 9-10pm, sleep soundly until 1-2am then awakens and is unsettled for the remainder of the night with the mucus. He can only get comfy sleeping on his front on me.

Things I've tried or using:

Humidifier
Elevated the cot
Saline spray
Nasal aspiration
Changed formula to an organic one (just incase!)
Gaviscon (incase it was acid reflux on advice of GP)
Snuffle babes (on advice of GP - aware it's for >3m)

Any ideas please ?

Unfortunately my DD was like this, reflux was the culprit. I used saline spray and a Nose Frida before she went to sleep but she usually ended up on my chest most of the night. It settled once the gaviscon was in her system and the reflux was under control (about 12 weeks I’d say).

Thank you for the reply. How often did you give the Gaviscon , and in which feeds seeing as it's 6x/day Max?

Thanks again

It seems you have tried everything I was going to suggest! I would contact the HV again and say you have tried everything you can think of and still want some support, they will likely fob you off unfortunately, but keep pushing.

I put vicks on the soles of DD’s feet and steamed her in the bathroom when she was like this.

I do feel fobbed off! GP won't see us F2F so I sent a video instead.

It's just me at home with LO, and I feel so tired with it all. Im pleased he doesn't seem in pain just unsettled

@pharmacoco she was having about 8 feeds a day at that time so I’d just skip 2 in the middle of the day but I’d give a bottle without, then a bottle with and then one without so it wasn’t 2 in a row without. Her reflux affected her most at night.
