8 month old screaming suddenly when put down for bed

My little one has slept through since he was 5 months in his own cot in his room. My partner has been off work because of covid since he was born but this week he started back. My little one only sees me and my partner, now only me. The past 2 nights when I put him down he cries uncontrollably until I get him out, at which point he instantly falls asleep on me and I put him back in cot. Any reason this could be happening all of a sudden? Sorry I'm a first time mum and thought I had his sleep pattern sorted. Thank you.

My DD went through this phase at 8 months. I think it’s a combination of separation anxiety and sleep regression (believe there’s one around 8-10 months).

It got better after a week or two.

Thank you. Shiuld I just keep doing bedtime routine, bath bottle cot. Or should I let him fall asleep on me then put him in cot as I hate seeing him so upset but dont want to make bad habit of him needing me to sleep

I stuck to normal routine - I done pickup put down method at bedtime (I’m not into cry it out etc) It was rough but she got the message. I think the key is to be consistent otherwise you’ll form new/bad habits that’ll be harder to break!
