DS 11 months waking every 5 minutes-Desperate-Please Help

DS has never been a fantastic sleeper, but never as bad as this. I am following the GF timings (but not the other stuff) so he has been in a consistent routine from birth. Since about August we have been co-sleeping as he was still waking up several times a night which was manageable with co-sleeping. Now all of a sudden he is waking every half hour or so from being put in his cot at 7, and then after much rocking etc he might sleep til the early hours before waking every 5 minutes. Last night it was from 1 am til 4 am!!! DH said to put him in his cot and leave him. I hadn't wanted to start CC just like that but did it and lay on the floor next to him, and he did drop off each time but awoke anytime between 3 and 10 minutes later for the whole 3 hours! This is casing a very unhappy little boy, and a lot of stress to me and DH and also is very difficult for DD aged 5 to get up for school. Any help or suggestions gratefully received.

What is his sleeping like during the day??

Hen has a nap at 9am for 45 mins and 12.30 til 2 ish. Both in his pram and he needs to be pushed to sleep for both and has started waking a few times during lunch time nap.

I think sleep patterns can go a bit funny at this age - have you tried putting him down in his cot during the day for naps?

If he goes down at 7 and is sleeping till the early hours could he be hungry at all Does he have a good feed before bed?

Could it be that old chestnut: teething?

You could try some bonjela next time he wakes up every 5 minutes.

He goes down at 7 and wakes every 30 mins to 1 hour til 10 ish then he has another bottle. Then he might sleep til 1 ish when it all starts! Last night he had another full bottle and 5 mls of nurofen incase it was pain waking him up- neither made a difference. I don't think its teething, but maybe I'm wrong. I will try putting him in his cot for his naps but he'll just scream. I'm thinking of trying a cranial osteopath.

Does he eat a lot in the day?

If he is not in pain then maybe a week or two
of consistent sleep training?

Have you already tried things like NCSS,
controlled comforting, gradual withdrawal, CC etc?

DaddyJ has a good point. The only thing that I would add is that whatever method you choose to use, it really helps if you can stick to it and as Daddyj says 'be consistent'. In my experience they soon get the hang of it but it is tough going. Well worth persevering as it should mean that your baby knows when bed time is and will stay there till the morning!!
