How long to rock to sleep?

I have a 6 week old and at sleep times (except during night when he settles quickly) it can take 45mins to over an hour to rock him to sleep.
Is it normal for it to take this long or do babies usually settle much quicker?
I know some things say not to rock to sleep, but that's what we're going with for the time being.

I had this, it was (with hindsight) because DD was overtired that it took so long. And then of course it’s a vicious circle because if it’s taking that long they are probably not actually asleep for long enough, so get more overtired.

Does feeding to sleep work quicker? Or buggy?

How long does he sleep once asleep?

It shouldn't take that long for a newborn. It would suggest extra help is needed to get him to sleep.

Are you rocking constantly for the whole 45 minutes, or having a few goes at putting baby down in that time?

Have you tried a swaddle?

Have you tried a dummy?

Could baby be hungry?
