12 month sleep regression?

My LO turns 1 next week and his sleep is really disrupted at the moment. He wakes at midnight and then every 1-2 hours for the rest of the night. He won’t resettle in his cot but calms pretty quickly when I pick him up. He then doesn’t want to be put back down again so I’ve been trying after a minute, after 2 minutes, 5 minutes etc and extending the amount of time.

I’ve got a bad back and sciatica so I’m having to sit down with him and I’m wondering if he’d just prefer to sleep on me. Could it be a sleep regression that will pass or am I creating an unsustainable habit here?

Has anyone else experienced this? Did it pass in a couple of weeks by itself? I go back to work soon and am 8 weeks pregnant so can’t carry on like this.

How does he settle of your DH/DP goes in to settle him?

@BunnyRuddington he settles ok with him for naps and it was DP who manage to night wean him with very little upset. But generally I do all the nights. DP is going to cover tonight though. It might break the cycle but even if it doesn’t, hopefully I can catch up on some sleep.

DP tried last night and the poor little guy got so upset 😢 It must be separation anxiety. Hopefully it will pass soon.
