3 month old bedtime screams after lights off..why??

We do the bedtime routine.. final feed (in room that we're sleeping in, low light), some quiet time... he gets drowsy, switch off the light and he'll scream. Sometimes it gets so bad we switch the light back on and he calms down and dozes off. Why does he react this way with the light off? When do i turn it off? Don't want to when he's fast alseep otherwise when he wakes he might freak out.

Then he refuses to be put in the crib so we hold him (whilst hes asleep) til next feed. By then, the lights are off and he'll happily go in the crib after that feed Hmm so its not the dark thats the problem. Btw its not pitch black, there's a v.dim nightlight.

How do i fix this bedtime problem, the light, him being able to go in crib at bedtime feed and not the feed after? And make it less stressful for everyone?? Please help.

Switching the light off is a red herring. It's irrelevant, it's just that it's very common for babies to be unsettled initially and wake up after a short time, to need to be resettled.

If it helps you though, keep the light low when you put him to bed and don't switch it off until when you go to sleep.
