Toddler suddenly waking overnight

Hello, my DD is 2.5 years old and has slept through from about 4/5 months. Is normally happy to amuse herself in her cot until she goes to sleep and doesn’t fight going to bed/nap. She is now resisting her nap and will only happily settle at night if she is really tired (almost overtired). Although she does stand up and shout mummy come back for several minutes before settling. I’ve started leaving her door open and a light on in the spare room. The main problem is waking over night. I am unable to settle her again, she just cries hug mummy and out cot. I’ve tried staying with her but she just wants to be out of the cot with me. I’ve tried controlled crying and just popping in to let her know I’m there. All this does is make her more upset each time I leave. She screams the place down if my husband tries to settle her. The last 3 nights she has come in with us. We have never co slept and it’s a habit I really don’t want to develop. I’m assuming it’s separation anxiety? Has anyone had similar or any advice on ways to work through it? Any glimmer of hope is gratefully received! Thanks 😊

Is she daytime napping? Might be time to drop or reduce the nap

I did drop her nap when this started which made the night waking worse! Have re-started the nap and so far it’s been a bit better and the controlled crying thing seems to be working now....fingers crossed!
