Hi all, I’m new to mums net and a first time mum to a almost 10 week old.

I’m finding his sleep a little confusing as he’s very restless at times and it’s difficult to know if he is awake or not. But then in the morning he seems to struggle to waken himself. Is this normal?

At this age if he's not obviously crying, leave him be in his crib. Babies are often noisy and fidgety while sleeping.

Would you say that’s ok even if he’s been sleeping a long time?

Yes, as long as he is not distressed.

It could be that he wants to go back to sleep so getting him up disrupts that. Popping a dummy on while placing your hand on his chest (in the cot) might be enough to resettle him into a deep sleep.

Or it could be that he's awake and happy entertaining himself, which is also perfectly ok.
