Drop a night feed

At what age does a baby droo their night feed.

My son is currently 9 weeks old and wakes up every 3 hours to have 5 oz of formaula milk.

However every morning at 6 am he wakes up for his feed and refuses to drink more than 1 ounce. Is this normal ? Will he soon drop this feed as his mot interested in drinking but still wakes up for a feed.

Also when does a little one sleep through the night? I've heard stories of 8 week old babys sleeping through.

He's so little at the moment. It's so tough, but I wouldn't focus too much on him sleeping through the night. I became obsessive with my boys sleep. My best friend's baby slept through from 6 weeks, so I couldn't understand why he was still waking.

Some babies just need those extra feeds. He started sleeping through with one feed at 4am which was wonderful between 3 and 4 months before hitting the 4 month regression. We're a couple of weeks into the regression and if it's taught me anything, it's that your baby will catch up in their own time, you can't force them.

It's exhausting, but are you able to catch up on sleep during the day? I normally hate when people say that as mine would only sleep on m me, but as he's gotten older, he's gotten more used to his cot. So you have someone who can take baby for an hour or two to catch up on some sleep.

Honestly, just do what you need to do to get through the early weeks, it will get better

My 8m old is a good sleeper but wakes once or twice a night still for a feed. Most of my friends with bf babies do at this age. However a lot of my friends who only used formula slept through from pretty early on! Fingers crossed for you!

Thank you . I don't have anyone to look after my little one. My husband is at work during the day and my family members cannot come visit due to covid.

My uncle fosters children's. He currently has a 10 weeks old baby who sleeping all night. I just couldn't understand why mine would get up every 3 hours on the dot when most babies I've heard stopped taking feeds .

I'm not looking forward to the 4 month regression.

When does a baby stop screaming bloody murder as soon they wake up for milk . I'm waiting for a stage were he wakes up and is alittle patient so I can get his milk ready lol

With his first injections the doctor did warn you may need to wake him for his feeds but my little one had no problem . He would wake up and demand to be fed lol.

They are all different and no two are the same. So there's no right answer to tour question.

I know from baby groups that most of the babies were still having night feeds at 6 months plus. Some were still having night feeds at over one year. The breast fed ones were having numerous night feeds at a year old probably a comfort thing.

My experience has been different with my two kids. My first slept through from about 5/6 weeks. She was an amazing sleeper, absolute angel. She'd sleep at least 12-13 hours a night even 14 hours sometimes. She was very consistent. She wasn't bothered with teething and was such a happy baby. She was rubbish at napping though but given how gd her overnight sleep was I cldnt get too annoyed.

My 14 month old baby I'm still up with a couple of times a week during the night. Shs teething just now and it does really bother her 😕 so we aren't back doing night feeds but we are up in the night still. She slept through Friday night but last night I was up for 90mins as she's got a cold, her nose was all blocked and she loves a dummy so a bad combo.

She didn't drop her night feed until she was about 9/10 months old. She started to sleep through occasionally at 4 months and pretty much dropped the night feed until we started weaning. She then started getting bk up for a feed possibly wasn't eating enough food 🤷🏻‍♀️

I used to dream about when she'd stop waking in the night etc I think it was just to keep myself going in those really difficult first few months. It will get better u just don't know if it will be soon or in 6-12 months plus.

I know this probably isn't what you want to hear but all babies are different so you can't predict. My baby is 17 weeks today and doesn't have a night feed anymore but my first was still having one or two feeds at this age and she was formula fed 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also it does change so quickly so one night they'll just randomly sleep through when you least expect it!
