7 months, fidgets awake every hour

DS is 7 months old and I haven't had a full night's sleep since about 3 months before he was born! Up until recently he was still waking for feeds as regularly as the daytime (he has 7-8oz every 5h or so) but then started to drop that to 1 feed a night. Lately though he fidgets himself awake every hour, and goes back to sleep with a change in position and a bum pat but I'm having to do this for longer and longer every night to get him to settle. When he first goes to bed I put him down on his back, but once he wakes the first time he wants to be on his side. Then he wakes himself constantly by rolling back over.
Does anyone have any advice? Thinking of sleep training during the day in the hope it'll translate to night time, would rather not leave him to cry at night as it will disturb my 2yo who sleeps like an absolute dream!
We haven't got his own room just yet as DH is using it as an office and I don't want to be out of bed every hour settling him anyway!

To add - he has started weaning which looked like it was helping but only for a few nights. He isn't teething as far as I can see.
