Baby stands in sleep

Hello lovely mummies.so my LO has a good habit of sleeping from last 2 month like he goes to bed by 8-8:30 and wakes up between 3-4 am to feed and sleep back again till 6:30-7 in the morning.( I say good habit because he was an awful sleeper before )
Now my 7.5 month baby has started a new thing from last 2 nights. He wakes up from the sleep, doesn’t even open his eyes and tries to stand holding the cot rail ( did 5 times last night) and he cries so bad with tears like he has pain somewhere in his body. And it’s inconsolable. He has just started to stand with the support of furniture.so my husband thinks baby is so excited about his new skill that’s why he is doing it. But I am not sure, the way he cries it’s heartbreaking. Haven’t slept from last 2 nights and don’t know how many more nights it’s going to be. Just scared if he is going to bang his head on the cot and get hurt ( even though we have bed bumper but it’s not that thick).
have you guys experienced something like this? Any tips, suggestions please

Could he have colic/reflux ?

Apparently when babies are learning new skills they practice them when they are sleeping. Rolling over, crawling, standing. At least this is what I read when my son was doing it.

I think it is his newly acquired skill that he's still practicing in his sleep.
The reason why he is crying is probably confusion and the poor thing doesn't know how to switch it ''off'' when he is trying to sleep.
It will pass eventually.Just try to give him a cuddle and reassure him it's OK and it's night time and it should get better soon.

DinosaurDiana Hi there, don’t think so, he was so colicky before because he Had cow milk protein allergy then Pediatric put him off dairy product since then we did not have any problem like reflux or colic Thank god. But something new again Confused thank you for the reply.
IWouldLikeToKnow he never had any problem with rolling over, sitting or crawling but now when he is trying to stand up, does not want to rest. May be so excited to walk with that little legs. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
3JsMa thank you so much for the kind words. Yes my hubby keep saying that but I was thinking if something wrong has happened. As you said hopefully this phase will pass soon.
