Sleep and starting nursery

Hi all

My little girl is starting nursery for 3 days a week in a couple of weeks. Im really nervous as haven't been able to look round due to covid but have been told they sleep in the same room as they play. I know this is fairly normal for most nurseries I'm just concerned how she's gonna cope! She sleeps in a dark room with white noise at home so not sure if she's even gonna sleep! Can anyone relate? Or help ease my mind at all? Thanks ☺️

It seems mad but nurseries seem to be magical and getting kids to sleep, in loud rooms, light rooms on mats on the floor

Herd mentality, once in starts napping they all do.

@OverTheRainbow88 haha just seems mad!! My little girl will only be 9 months I think that's making it worse too that I have to go back and put her in so young! I feel guilty but I know lots of parents do the same!

@MonkeyPuddle haha I hope so!!

I could have written this post. My DD started nursery at 12 months and her naps was the thing i was worrying about constantly. She was on 2 naps and most kids there were on 1. They also had only 2 rooms, for the bigger kids (2-3y) and smaller (1-2y). The relevant group played and slept on mats in the same room. I have NO IDEA how they do it, but our DD never missed a nap there :) When she started I asked them to give her 2 naps which they did. After a while - at around 14mo - she started refusing the second one so she's only on one nap now at 17 months. And today she slept 2 hours, according to the live updates on the nursery app. I'm loving it. Don't worry, nurseries are magical ;) x

@Sandrine1982 oh that's so comforting to read! Naps are always the worry aren't they! If they don't sleep or sleep too much! That's amazing that she sleeps well there, I really hope my baby is the same! Thing is she gets herself to sleep so not sure how that will happen as long as I don't then have to pat or rock her at home haha. Thankyou really appreciate your comment ☺️

7 mknth old ds has just started nursery, for his entire life he's been fed to sleep and had white noise on. Theyve managed to get him having 30 mins on a morning and just over an hour on an afternoon
. Its witchcraft!

@QforCucumber oh that's sooo good! Such a worry isn't it. It makes me feel so much better hearing others experience. Thankyou ☺️
