6 month old stop needing night feed but so restless

Hi,

My 6 month old has always been fairly good at sleeping. Often just falling into routine himself. He stopped needing a night feed or nappy change two weeks ago (I use a size bigger nappy at bedtime so it holds more if he does urinate a lot) he wakes for a ten minute cuddle and goes back down. Until this week as his hitting 6 months he’s so restless. Spends most of the night fidgeting, moving etc although he isn’t awake properly. He rubs his eyes at times. I’m not getting any sleep as can hear it all night long and he must be exhausted. Any ideas or tips? He still falls asleep on last feed, so is put down asleep, I’ve just started reading about sleep training to try and get him to self settle but didn’t want to start until he was sleeping better.

He is eating now, although it’s more tasting foods than eating proper meals. But still drinks a good amount of milk. He’s been teething for ever, although it seems to have eased in last week or so but no tooth yet. He’s ever been a great regular day sleeper. He has a morning nap at 09.30 for 45 mins. Some days he has another short nap around 13.00 maybe 20 mins, then he might not nap again, he may have a short nap again or sometimes he pans out for two hours. I always try to make sure he’s awake two hours before bedtime.

Any help would be great. I read about sleep regression, is it just this?

It could a sleep regression but it could also be his digestive system getting used to the solids! My DD got very restless at night once we started solids but she settled down after a couple of weeks.

I did think it maybe the move to solids, so have tried to move his meal times forward a little to give him time before bed. Thank you so much
