Going through hell with 6 week old

My 6 week old doesn’t sleep and it’s no exaggeration to say that at the moment it’s destroying me. In the past 24 hours there have been about 7 hours, all at once when she finally caved in when DH took her for a drive (I’d taken her on a drive too but mine didn’t work.)

She is so exhausted she cries from it all the time. It’s awful to see.

What can I do? I’ve tried absolutely everything I can think of and I’m seriously considering going to the hospital tomorrow.

Were they sleeping okay before? There is the first sleep regression at 6 weeks, and I remember it being savage. Have you tried white noise etc?

Yes tried everything I can think of. Sleep has been a bit touch and go but this is awful. Yesterday she only had three naps for around twenty minutes.

@Rainynights
Have you tried wearing your baby for naps in a sling etc? This is the only way my newborn would sleep in the beginning esp during the day. We took turns (my hubby would do the evening shift) and we were then able to focus on fixing her night sleep when she wasn't so ridiculously over tired during the day- the more they sleep, the more they sleep.
If it continues where you are concerned though do seek advice - my daughter was diagnosed with silent reflux after 5 horrendous weeks... so always good to get peace of mind if you think there are other worrying signs. My daughter grunted and arched and screamed constantly after feeds and when lying down on her back. I know it seems impossible now but things change quickly with babies and it will get better- promise!!

I do think possibly some reflux is an issue. We’ve got Gaviscon but it hasn’t made much difference. Is there anything else that’s any good?

She does love the sling but the bad weather has made going out for walks in it difficult.

@Rainynights we ended up being prescribed a tablet called omeprazole and a milk thickener - but that is through consultation with GP. She is a completely different child!
Ah yes the weather doesn't help - I would have just worn her around the house in the sling (extractor fan works a dream!).

Deffo give the GP a call if gaviscon isn't working OP.
