Naps for one year old

Hello,

My DD has just turned one and her nap schedule has completely gone out the window. I’ve been following the just chill mama routine so first nap roughly at 9.30 for max 45 min then 12.30/1 for a two hour nap. This was working perfectly but the last week it’s just been so different.

So that nap in the morning I’ve stopped it at 15/20 min which is usually by 10 and she fights this most days. If she does have that nap she’s then not ready for an afternoon nap until 2.30/3 which is just too late for a long nap!! So do I try and push to one long nap a day? Or try something else?

Should also say that if she doesn’t have the morning nap she’s a wreck by 11am

My DS dropped his afternoon nap at 15 months but had been fussy with naps for a couple of months prior to that. He’s since napped 11.30-1.30 which works for us, he’s 2 in March. He wakes at 6.30 and is asleep for 7 so he has around about 5 hours awake time.
Except on nursery days where he only naps for an hour and is ready for bed by 6pm!
If she’s fussy with her morning nap it does sound like she’s maybe ready for 1 a day.

@Abouttimemum thanks - I was thinking that too....maybe I’ll try that tomorrow

We dropped the morning nap for DS at around 12/13 months and just gave him 2 - 2 1/2 hours in the afternoon. He's just turned 2 and now and about 1 1/2 - 2 hours in the afternoon.

Sleeps 8:00pm - 07:30am. Very energetic little boy though - never stops, only for sleeps x

My LO went to 1 nap a day at 10 months. He slept 11-1/1.30. So maybe look to merge the 2 naps if she’s fighting the first nap x

Just been through this myself - rough few months of all over the place, short naps, nap refusal... from about 9 1/2 months - 11 months Confused we tried everything as we thought it was just the regression at this stage... but eventually she went down to one nap around 12 and sleeps 12-2ish, bed for 7, awake 6/7. Agree with dropping the nap. You just end up doing ‘lunch’ at a really weird time and offering a large snack after the nap to see them through to dinner time.
