Perfect during the day, won’t go down at night.

Hi everyone.

I’m sure many of you will have experienced this so hoping for some advice or reassurance.

I have a newborn son and he sleeps perfectly during the day. Wakes every 3/4hrs during the day for a change and feed but as soon as night time hits and we’re upstairs for bed, he will not settle.

How does he know it’s bedtime and why does he hate it? Any idea how to carry on the day routine through the night?

Haven’t established a real routine with him yet and don’t really know “how”. Please help.

Is he afraid of the dark?

When you say newborn, I wonder if he's very little and not yet got his night and day the right way round? If so, sadly, it's a case of giving it a bit more time. Low stimulation and boring during night wakings, as much daylight as you can in the day. Good luck!
