10 month old won’t nap when I put him down but will when my partner does

My 10 month old has started getting really upset when I try to put him down for a nap. This has been going on for a week or so I think but it feels like forever.

At first I thought maybe he wasn’t tired enough despite showing all his sleepy cues so took him out of the room and tried again later. It doesn’t work. My partner is working from home at the moment so has been taking over and can get him to sleep within minutes. It’s not sustainable because my partner won’t always be available. It’s horrible hearing my LO so upset.

Has anyone been through this and can advise?

Does your partner normally put him to bed, or did they previously? It's usual for the parent who does it most to be better at settling.

Has breastfeeding status changed? Because that can also affect things (I'm not sure from your post if you are mum or dad and if your partner is mum or dad)

I’m his mum, partner is dad. Sorry that wasn’t clear!

I’m still on mat leave so have done the vast majority of nap and bedtime settling until now. My partner has started helping out a bit more recently, partly because he was off work over Christmas but also because I have a bad back and sometimes need a rest. I stopped breastfeeding at 7 months so it’s not that.

Just in case anyone visits this thread with the same problem, this phase only lasted about 2 weeks so I was worried about nothing!
