Why can't I put my child down?!

Hi all. Desperately seeking help! Have a LO who is 5 months. She falls asleep in my arms no problem. But when I go to move her into her crib or sleepyhead. She wakes up. I puck her up and put her in my arms again, and shes asleep almost instantly. How do i transition her from arms to crib/pod easily?! I'm getting so frustrated by this. I want to be able to put her down so I can be productive as opposed to just sitting there while she sleeps! Same thing happens at night in bed. I have to do at least 2/3 attempts of putting her in her next to me crib before shes finally in there settled. HELP!

Yeah. They do that! I ended up having to sort of crouch into the cot almost lying my torso on the baby (lightly of course), breathing for a minute or 2 until they settle. Also had some success with shh-pat.

That happened to me. I had to resort to having LO in the baby carrier so I could free my hands. I found that waiting a little longer once they were in a deep sleep I could put them into the pram but it didn't always happen. They seem to have a sixth sense about those things!

Does she have anything that she cuddles ?
If so give her the cuddly and gently rub her back.
She will need to get used to a new way so may resist at first, you need to remember your goal and keep at it.

I have a baby who does this, I just keep persisting and by the 3rd 4th time she will just go with it. It's hard work though!
I also crouch down and put my chest down to the crib with her so it's not as obvious I'm putting her down.
After persisting for a few weeks she does go down easier!

My DD also would only sleep on me. At 4.5 months I started putting her in her cot for 1 nap a day then worked it up. I would rock her to sleep first, put her down slowly (so bum first, then wait to see if she wakes, then slowly put the rest of down). If she woke up I’d keep repeating these steps. Within a few days she got the idea - I still had to rock her to sleep for a while but then I started to put her down awake and doing ssh-pat.

Do you swaddle your LO? I found that really helped to stop her startling herself awake when I put her down.
