Two to one nap - how long???

Hey all,
It seems to have been going on for months now, couple days of two naps then couple of one nap, arrghhh 😬 when does it settle?? It doesn't help as little one will wake early one day ( say 6am) so I'll try her for two naps as her awake times won't allow her to get to one nap at a reasonable time (as in early pm)
Then two naps get her to usual bedtime of 7.30pm so can sleep till 7 am which then I'll try her for one nap around midday. Sometimes I get 2.5 hrs which is great so she'll be able to get back round to her bedtime and I think great, we are making progress!! 😄 But then we start having a nap that doesn't last more than 1.5 hrs so back round to early bed again!! Arrghhh 😬 am i missing a trick or something. Does it really take this long to transition?! I just feel like I'm getting this so wrong!
I know some people suggest just going cold turkey and only giving one nap at say midday but if she wakes up 6 to 630 she just can't make it through.
Thanks so much ☺️

How old is she?
My LO is 12m and we seem to be transitioning from 2 naps to 1, it depends on what time she's woken up and sometimes needs to catch up from having 1 the previous day.
It's definitely a process. Just go with it I guess!

We eventually went cold turkey and try, no matter what time she wakes, to stretch her to 1215 for her nap, otherwise it mucks up bedtime. She generally manages fine as long as we’ve been outside and gotten some fresh air - she’s 14 months old x

Thanks both, she is 14.5 months.
@LillyMac500 you say you eventually went cold turkey, is that because you were going back and forth for a while. I must admit im at the point of doing the same but really worried it will make her so over tierd that we wont get a decent nap....sorry to droan on, you have obviously been here its just so long winded and im fed up with it to be honest. Thank you so much for your insight !

Yeah, we were back and forth for a while, plus I could never figure out whether I should give her that first morning nap when she woke super early. We also did it in the hope that she’d sleep through regularly- which she doesn’t really, so I’m maybe not the best person for replying 🙈
She is excellent at sleeping for her one nap - will always have 2 hours, and I usually wake her. We’re going through a trial of letting her sleep even longer for her nap in the hope that ‘sleep begets sleep’ is true and she sleeps longer at night.
Just push it slightly each day, we have lunch at 1130 every day, but initially where making it a little earlier as she was too tired to last that long, or sometimes a quick snack, nap then bigger snack/lunch after the nap.
It’s such a minefield - I’ve spent 14 months googling baby sleep habits 🤦‍♀️

Sorry for delay in replying, been poorly.
Ha yes it's definitely a minefield, I've spent my time doing the same! Smile
My little ones sleep is up and down, I can have weeks of sleeping through then usually something developmental sets her back Hmm
Her naps though are my obsession, honestly it drives me crazy worrying about it, my dp gets so annoyed with me! Grin
I'm sooo looking forward to when we are through this! Thanks so much for your input , helps knowing it isn't just me that's finding (or found) it difficult. Shock

@nadine6301Hi! I’ve found this post from months ago as we are in the transition phase and I’m finding it so difficult. What did you di in the end?
I tried gong cold turkey this week but it coincided with a cold so it’s been all over the place. Hard to know if night wakings are down to illness or nap transition.
Thanks, hope you’re all settled in now months down the line!
