Long time lurker and rarely post but please I'm sleep deprived and after advice or reassurance that this is a phase and this too shall pass!
DD has been a wonderful baby and much like DS always been a fab sleeper. Although she's never slept through the night and is dream fed at 10 and then wakes for a feed at anything between 2am and 5am she goes back to sleep with no trouble and has always been able to talk herself to sleep easily. This last week though she's been waking at 2am, feeding and then staying awake. Happily awake, talking loudly, gurgling, sometimes whinging. I don't need to go through to her but it keeps us awake. Started off being 2am until 4am but the last few days it's been until 5.30am when DS then gets up ready for the day!! She'll then sleep from 5.30 to 7.30 and be up to join the rest of us.
Her routine is pretty much:
7.30am awake and feed
9.30ish nap for 45 minutes
11ish feed
12.30ish epic nap - she will sleep for 3hrs sometimes would give 4hrs a good shot but we have things to do so invariably I wake her at 3.30 if she sleeps beyond 3pm!
3to4pm feed
6pm Bedtime routine
Now reading this it looks like she has a lot of sleep but she has always been a sleepy baby to the point the health visitor sent me to A&E with her at 1mth old because she still hadn't 'woken' out of her newborn sleepiness and slept all day and all night having to be woken for feeds.
Anyway, I digress. Will she get herself out of this bad nighttime sleep regime? Is there something I can do to help her? Should I cut the mammoth nap into two? Later bedtime despite risking evening grumps? We've just fallen into our routine as that's how she fell asleep.
Any advice gratefully received.
