3 yo still in cot

My just turned 3 year old is still in his cot bed with the bars.
He's fully potty trained and in all areas doing fantastically but has never tried to climb out and loves his bed. However I have noticed most or all of his friends are now in beds.
Is this weird?!

Well what if he needs the loo and can't get out? I woul put him in a bed for independence.

I have to take him to the loo anyway and he never needs it in the night.. so far.

Isn't it kind of a case of "if it ain't broke don't fix it"?! 😅

I planned on moving him when he discovers he can get out 🤣

I'd be thrilled to get mine to 3 and still in the cot. Definitely if it ain't broke don't fix!

If he's happy and sleeping well, I wouldn't change it. My eldest was in a cot until shortly after she turned 3. We moved her to a bed because BIL had a baby and needed a cot - didn't seem much point in them buying a new one when we had one that she shortly would have stopped using. Had that not been the case, I would have stretched another 6 months out of it at least. She was also night trained at the time.

My youngest is 2 and in a cot - he asks to sleep in a bed daily but we've told him not before he's 3!

My two youngest were both 3y9m before they moved to a bed. They were happy, slept all night - had no reason at all to move them. If he’s happy there’s no rush to move him to a bed.

I would have loved for dd (just turned two on Dec) to still be in a cot, and would have kept her in for as long as possible.
Unfortunately she was out of it by 18 months due to being extremely tall and an extremely skilled climber, so it become dangerous for her to stay in it. Don't worry about what other children seem to be doing, if it's currently working for you as it is, don't rock the boat until you need to.
