6 month old now inconsolable at nap time

Hi,

Our little boy is nearly 6.5 months old and just the past few days has started fighting naps. When I go to put him down he just starts wailing. He's an excellent night sleeper though, self settles and sleeps through. Goes to bed around 6pm and wakes at 7am the next morning. So I know he doesn't need a great deal of day sleep, maybe some cat naps. I try to put him down 2.5 hours after wake-up, which was working fine until the weekend now all of a sudden it's a huge problem. We have a routine of nappy change, sleep bag, book and then lights out and I sing twinkle twinkle but he's just starting being inconsolable once I put him down. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! x

If it's a sudden change then my instincts would say something along the lines of illness or teething being the cause.

Sometimes just sticking to a routine causes problems, you can learn to read babies cues though and let him lead you.
Maybe he is tired before you are trying to put him down?
