3:2 nap transition

Hi

When did you drop to two naps? My little girl is almost 8 months (in two weeks!) and is a great night sleeper but never been very good at naps - always around 30mins! She started taking a longer nap after lunch at 6-6.5 months but the last week or so they were all 30mins again and then randomly she did a 2hr nap Christmas Day in the morning. I only gave her two naps that day but since then she’s not done it! So she’s back on 3 naps around 9-930, 1230-1 and 4ish. For the last week or two she has been waking at 540am which is early for her which I presume is due to a nap transition ? Any advice welcome. At the moment if she’s taking the third nap I’m still giving it...

Thanks x

It's a really tricky transition. Do you try to resettle the morning and afternoon naps? The idea is that if you can stretch those two naps then the awake window between naps can also stretch resulting in no need/time for the third nap.

No I don’t resettle the naps. She does about 30 mins in the morning and 1-1.5 hours at lunch and then 30mins at 4ish. She can self settle. She can last 2.5 hours - 3 hours ok between naps

It was an easy transition. He was 16 months

Oops I read this thread title incorrectly as being from 2-1 naps, ignore me!

I cut it down so went from whatever he wanted, to 30 mins, to a very strict power nap of 15 mins then cut it out completely - probably over a period of 2-3 weeks.
